Illustrated Unillustrateds |
In 1944 The Modern Library introduced its line of illustrated editions. Lasting only a few years, the series had a total of 20 laviously illustrated titles. (For the details, see Modern Library Illustrated Editions and Guide to the Illustrated Editions.) But a number of other regular & giant editions were also illustrated, some with just decorative line drawings but others with quite detailed drawings, maps, and photographs. A list of those with at least two illustrations appears below. If you know of others not on this list, please let us know. Thanks to collector Drew Asson whose observations about the illustrations in Tortilla Flat prompted the creation of this page. |
