From the FAQ:

Where does ModernLib's content come from?

ModernLib gets its content from the Managing Editor's own research as well as from material and information sent by the general Modern Library collecting community. Much information comes from a collective analysis of the books themselves.

The Managing Editor regularly trolls eBay for ML-related images which he edits and reposts without conscience. He is forever pestering specialist booksellers, academics, librarians, and other collectors and experts with questions about Modern Library minutia. He also looks at listings at major collaborative bookseller sites and does searches using Google and Bookfinder.com.

More information comes from discussions on the Modern Library Mailing List where dozens of ML specialists generously share what they know. And of course, the greatest source of content comes from collectors who respond to requests to join in ModernLib's many ongoing projects.

We're all doing what we can.
