It contains chapters from several of Dewey's most important books, some of which have never before been included in any collection, and many selections from books and periodicals which have long been out of print. Basing his approach on Dewey's own contention that "philosophy is the general theory of education," the editor has made selections of Dewey's work in the several branches of philosophy that nourish educational theory, including ethics, epistemology, aesthetics, political theory and a major section on pedagogy.
