Notes on Conrad's Nostromo When this title was first published in 1951, it contained a biographical note of some 29 lines as part of the front matter, plus a list of suggested readings running to 20 titles. Sometime in 1967, the biography was shortened by nearly 60% and moved to the back of the book; oddly the list of recommended readings was lengthened to 26 titles. New plates were created for this title in 1967. The new plates resulted in a decrease in the page count from 631 to 566 even though there was no substantial change to the content. For a list of other titles where new plates resulted in a change to the page count while the content remained essentially the same, see Book Block Plate Varieties.
